I was born and raised in the US and double-majored in philosophy and Asian Studies with the intent of going to law school. During my college years, I joined a volunteer group to teach English in rural Taiwan for a summer, which was an interesting first experience in the career field. I eventually chose to move to Japan (and later Taiwan) and started teaching English professionally.
